Festival of Trees: 

The Athol Recreation Centre will be donating a yoga themed tree this year.

It is finally the night we have all been waiting for.  This Saturday November 15th bring your lantern creation  that you made at the workshop we hosted early this Fall and meet us at Benson Park in Picton at 6pm.  The parade starts at 6:30 and ends at the Crystal Palace.

Didn’t have a chance to make a lantern.  No worries come join the parade and enjoy the magical evening.

Then at the Crystal Palace a celebration will be had with entertainment by the  Lemon Bucket Orkestra who just won runner-up for best band in Toronto by NOW Magazine. When you see them on November 15 you are going to wonder why they weren’t first!

See you there!

Hallowe’en night was in full swing during the Athol Recreation Centre’s Hallowe’en disco dance. Pirates, clowns, escaped convicts, batman, re-enactments from Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “The Birds”, wizards, flappers, zombies and the strange and the gruesome along with a couple of chickens were in attendance.    Many glittered and many made you shiver!

All gathered under the disco ball and danced the night away to DJ Caleb Hutton’s awesome selection of tunes.  Prizes for best costume and gruesomest were handed out before the strike of midnight. Special thanks to Susan Wallis and John Mckinnon who made the wonderful award statues and to  folks at Cinefest at the Regent who kindly donated 4 tickets to upcoming Cinefest movie nights to the prize winners.

All dined on delicious meat and vegetarian chili prepared by Janet Davies, Bonnie Robson and Susan Wallis.

Thanks to all our volunteers who set up, organized the lighting, ran errands, served bar, worked the door and cleaned up the next day.  Special thanks to the lead organizer of the night, Janet Davies and to our star volunteers of the night pirates,  Peter and Bonnie Robson!!!!!!!
