Joe Skratt from Picton took home the ‘Golden Paddle’ trophy and was crowned champ at Athol Rec’s first table tennis tournament on Saturday. Fourteen players battled it out, with Kato Wake and Joe playing off in the finals in a close and exciting game. Thanks to Cherry Valley sculptor/artist John McKinnon who made the trophy. Players from Wellington, Bloomfield, Picton and Cherry Valley enjoyed a fine lunch together and a great time was had by all. Players age ranged from 11 to 80 – how good is that?!
