Every night is opening night! Marvel as an incredible, award-winning cast of improvisers creates a brand new musical on the spot. Audience suggestions are transformed into a fast-paced, ridiculous and always entertaining new musical complete with brand new songs, stories and characters. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll want to see it again… but you can’t!

Created in the summer of 2015 by Stephanie Malek (Bad Dog’s Final Frontier) and Josh Murray (Second City Touring Company), this improvised musical is directed by Tom King and Carly Heffernan. Joining Malek and Murray in the cast are Ashley Comeau (Second City Mainstage), Tricia Black (Sketchersons), Alexandra Hurley (Edinburgh Fringe), Nug Nahrgang (Evil Dead! The Musical), Nicky Nasrallah (PANACEA!), and Connor Thompson (Second City Mainstage).

THE TEMPLETON PHILHARMONIC

The Templeton Philharmonic are a sketch comedy duo from Toronto who specialize in surreal, often historically-inspired sketch comedy mixed with epic, tongue-in-cheek dance sequences. Gwynne Phillips (HBO’s Sensitive Skin, PBS’s Odd Squad) and Briana Templeton (SyFy’s The Expanse, CTV’s The Beaverton) are known for their darkly surreal sketches, comedic period pieces, and manic dance sequences. They’ve picked up numerous awards for their work, including “Best Comedy Duo” at L.A. Comedy Festival, and “Producer’s Pick” at The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival. They have performed at the New York Sketch Comedy Festival, JFL42, Chicago Sketchfest, and headlined The National College Comedy Festival. The two star in their original web series “Womanish” on CBC, and are currently contributing writers on “The Irrelevant Show” on CBC Radio-Canada.

TASTE THAT

The County’s Artisanal Comedy Troupe: TASTE THAT! is a ragtag group of Prince Edward County residents including an author, a brewer, a beekeeper, a councillor, a painter, an innkeeper, and two comedy producers. The group is well-known in The County for their semi-monthly shows, and their annual Christmas comedy productions (The Nightmare After Christmas, No Room at the Inn) that take an irreverent look at life in Prince Edward County. Their shows feature a hilarious mix of improv and scripted comedy including their signature recurring segment, The County Roundup – a local newsdesk that earns bigtime laughs at small town news.

Sweet, sweet local strawberries from Laundry Farms.

There was another full room of laughs last Saturday night at the hall in Cherry Valley for the 1st show of the Comedy County Summer Series hosted by the Athol Recreation Committee and the County’s zany Artisanal Improv Troupe, Taste That, with special guests Flo and Joan!

The photos (thanks to Ramesh Pooran) speak for themselves.

In case you ever wondered what we do outside during warm up before the show, this is what you are missing.

The night opened with COUNTY Round Up with anchors Lenny Epstein and Gavin North covering news throughout the County and Wellington.

We can sing too! Or so we think!

Just in case you were wondering Beth has no cavities!

Julianne lighting up the stage!

Susan,Mihal and Beth hamming it up on stage!

And the night kept getting better with the sister singers FLO and Joan from the UK!

And then after the show was done, we had a little on stage fun with friends Ashley Comeau, Kate Naughton, Sam Hirst and Candace Adina and other daring audience members.

Sorry you missed the show?  No worries you can catch Taste That and their friends at the following shows:
