Some of our wonderful volunteers: Left to right from back. Michelle, Bonnie, Cheryl, Linda, Carol (event leader), Susan. Seated: Kato, Janet and Celia (Deborah, Billy, Brian, Don & David not pictured)
The Athol Recreation Centre was transformed last Wednesday afternoon into a lovely tea room by event leader and recreation committee member Carol King of Cherry Valley along with a divine ensemble of volunteers. Home-baked scones, local preserves, clotted cream and tea were served to a group of lovely ladies and a few stately gentleman. Music was graciously provided by Celia Sage on the piano and by Janet Davies who sang a few proper “tea” appropriate tunes. Lovely prizes were donated by Carol and were raffled off to 2 lucky winners! All profits from the event will go to support a music program at our local elementary school.
THANK YOU to ALL who supported this event!
A warm thank you to all our wonderful bakers with a special thank you to MaryAnn Saunders, Cherry Valley resident and pastry chef who donated dozens and dozens of her lovely home-baked scones!

Special Thanks to Katie Grist from Nature Maid for putting on such a wonderful and
educational workshop on the powers of “green” and “earth friendly” cleaning products
this past April 27th at the Athol Town Hall in Cherry Valley.
All who attended went home with “green” cleaning products and great ideas on how to
keep their homes earthly friendly, smelling great and CLEAN!
For those who were not able to attend we are hoping to have another workshop in the future.
In the meantime here are a couple of Katie’s green cleaning recipes for you to try at home.
Nature Maid Cedarwood/Bergamot Dusting Aid:
1\2 cup Murphy’s Oil Soap
3\4 cup water
10 drops Bergamot essential oil
6 drops Cedarwood essential oil
Measure out your Murphy’s oil and water and funnel into a squirt bottle. Add you essential oils. Attached squirt attachment and shake. Use on all wooden furniture. Spray and wipe off promptly with a soft, clean, dry cloth.
Nature Maid Herbal Air Freshener
4 sage leaves crushed
2 bay leaves crushed
2 teaspoons lavender buds
1 cinnamon stick
Combine herbs in a mason jar. Pour 1 cup of witch hazel over herbs. Let steep for 3 days. After 3 days strain through a coffee filter into a spray bottle. Top with 1\2 cup of water and use as you would any aerosol room deodorizers or linen spray.
