Important Meeting!

HAVE YOUR SAY REGARDING SIZE OF COUNCIL REVIEW AND PROPOSED ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES

Public Consultation Sessions are being held in each County Ward to provide an opportunity for members of the public to provide comments regarding the four options being considered by Council as related to Size of Council and proposed Electoral Ward boundaries for the County of Prince Edward.

The residents of Athol will have their opportunity to speak at the ATHOL TOWN HALL this coming WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 from 7 pm until 9 pm.

If you are unable to attend you can complete a hard copy survey,available until Sept. 30 at any library, Shire Hall or the Edward Bldg.

Last Sunday at the Caddy Shack mini-golf course in Athol over 70 children and adults from the County enjoyed a wonderful day of mini-golf sponsored by the swell gang at the Athol Recreation Committee.  Kids played for just a Toonie and adults for $7.

Event organizer Glen Wallis,  Chair of the Athol Recreation Centres hopes it will become an annual, all ages event.

Fun was had by all who attended.  Winners of the Raffle prizes are as follows:

Greer Blakely Haennel won the 4 Regent Theatre movie tickets

and

James Parks won the $25 gift certificate to Giant Tiger.

The Athol Recreation Committee is pleased to announce that the Phil Dodd Memorial Award this year goes to long time volunteer and resident Donna Kaye in recognition of her volunteer contribution to the ward of Athol. Donna has supported and continues to support all the wonderful activities that the Athol Recreation Committee provides. Her vast knowledge and experience in childhood education allowed her to lead 2 successfully attended and enjoyed Athol “Bring Back Play” days, along with assisting in the child oriented aspects of many of our past events. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she is a pleasure to work with on our committee.

It wasn’t that long ago on July 30th that the County’s Artisanal Improv Group, Taste That! coverted the Athol Town Hall into a Comedy Club.   Following a free Improv Class lead by Gemini Award winning Paul Snepts and Julianne Snepts the troupe hit the stage with the show aptly named “You’re in Athol!”

In the meantime,  check them out this Sunday August 30th during Homegrown Hilarity at 8 pm at Bloomfield hall along with other local funny folks who will take to the stage for a talent show of hometown humour. PLAY DAY FUN!

Last Saturday morning much fun was had by all in attendance at the Athol Town Hall for the FREE Play Day hosted by the Athol Recreation Centre.  Food was theme for the day.  There were games, planting and food fun activities!   Special thanks to the event organizer Donna Kaye and her helpers Bonnie Robson, Peter Carpenter, Janet Davies and Glen Wallis and  all who came out to support the event.

Next fun event is this Sunday August 30th.  Toonie Mini Golf for kids at the Caddy Shack Mini Golf in Athol.  Details to follow soon!
