……JANET DAVIES!!!!

FullSizeRender

Janet Davies, 2016 winner of the memorial Phil Dodds award in recognition of volunteer service to the community of the Athol Township.

Janet has been a great asset to the Athol Recreation Committee for many years as Secretary (some say five ,maybe six years, well as long as we can remember).  Besides diligently keeping minutes and designing and printing our posters,  she is responsible for getting the word out on our events through our local  print media outlets.  She has led many of our events and is always ready to lend a hand  in supporting all our events.   You will find her behind the bar, or selling tickets, decorating or just making locals feel welcome with a her smile .

We are so lucky to have her as part of our team.

Congrats Janet!

                                                               -Glen Wallis,

                                                                                                   Chair, Athol Recreation Committee

About Phil Dodds:     Philip Dodds nicknamed by those who knew him as Mr. Prince Edward.  Dodds joined the Picton Gazette at the age of 18 as a reporter in 1924 and retired as the editor of the paper 42 years later.  He is also the editor of the book Athol, Stories of a Township and it’s People During the Past 132 Years.  The book is an invaluable account of local Athol history available for all to read at the library in Picton.  Mr. Dodds is buried in the Cherry Valley cemetery.

Taste That,  the County’s Artisanal Improv Group filled the Athol Town Hall in Cherry Valley once again this time with  their  SOLD OUT show,

“Your’re STILL in Athol!”

Audience laughter was abound while they watched this zany troupe do their thing.  Before the show the Troupe provided a FREE Improv workshop to those who were interested in Improv.  The County Round Up was back again with their take on what’s news in County with fun loving jabs at local events and personalaities. County Beer and Cider were flowing.  The mystery snacks bags were all gone before the show started and lastly did you know there are sharks in West Lake?

Here are a few shots of the good times in Athol.  Don’t you wish you were in Athol on Saturday night??

Not to worry, rumor is you can’t keep these guys down as they promise to be back………in Athol real soon, stay tuned for shows throughout the spring and summer months!
